Mantle Re-do!

Since we moved into our new home three months ago, I have been on a decorating whirlwind! I put things up that I already had, but was not liking how it looked.

Here is the before picture...

I knew that I wanted to keep the mantle decor simple. I absolutely love how it turned out after adding a few new accessories!

Then I  lucked out on the mirror and found it at Lowes. Yes, Lowes!

The rose flower vases and crown decor came from my favorite place ever, Hobby Lobby.

Featured on Apartment Therapy!

I was so surprised to find out that my daughter's room was featured on Apartment Therapy's Ohdeedoh site!  When I first saw it my heart was racing like crazy!  I was running all over the house trying to find someone to tell, but everyone was gone...  Probably a good thing!  :) 

WOW is all I can say... It was a very nice surprise! 

Now I'm wishing I would have used my good camera to take the pictures instead of my iPhone...  Oh well.

Painting dining room!

First of all, I have to say.... OH MY GOODNESS!  Look at all of the new followers!  How awesome is that?  I promise not to disappoint you...  I have LOTS of fun crafty stuff planned to do over the next few months!

When we moved in our new house a couple of months ago, I knew the dining room wall color had to change! The builder decided that orange would be a great color for that room. All of the other rooms in the house are taupe. Still trying to figure out the whole orange thing...






I am soooo excited to see how the new light and airy color will change the room!

I'll post pictures when it's all finished!

"Tween"ager Bedroom!

Hello Everyone!

We have been in our new home for two months now and have been very busy making it our own.  Our oldest daughter wanted a pink and black funky room, so that's what we have been creating for her!

Here is a before picture of her room before we moved in.  The builder had it staged as an upstairs living/game room, but we wanted to turn it into a "tween"ager suite for her.  We had the builder add a wall, door, closet and a desk to the room.

My hubby did all the painting... He is an AWESOME man!!!

The picture above is her living area.  The futon came from Wal-Mart, the lamps & memo boards from Hobby Lobby, and the pillows and throw from JC Penny.  The coffee table and end tables were a yard sale find that I "Jillified"!  They were a light brown wood.  I sanded them down and gave them a couple of coats of black spray paint and they look perfect!

This is a picture of her sleeping area.  The bedding came from JC Penny.  I still have to hang her valance and black curtains, and my hubby has to finish the pink paint trim, but it's getting there!

She is absolutely LOVING her chalkboard walls on each side of her bed!  She and her friends have sooooo much fun writing on them!
